The New Patient Experience

New patients can simply ring us on 01727 869471 and make an appointment over the telephone, however we suggest that patients who have not been seen at Alexander House Dental Practice before might like to drop in before their first appointment and complete the patient information and medical history forms. It also provides an opportunity to meet our staff and see the practice.

Your First Appointment

As a new patient, our aim is to make your first visit easy, simple, stress-free and informative about your dental care and costs.

  • During your first visit, we will ask you to fill out a dental and medical questionnaire if you have not already done so, and our dentists will listen to your dental concerns.
  • This will be followed by a thorough dental examination of your mouth which will include gums, teeth, existing dental restorations, soft tissues, bone levels and jaw joints. The dentists will also conduct an extra oral examination of facial muscles and lymph nodes. All this is done visually and with simple dental instruments like dental mirrors and probes. We will take any necessary x-rays with your consent.
  • Our dentists will then explain and provide a written treatment plan, options and costs.

Patients are under no pressure to make any decisions until they have had a chance to understand all the options. We aim not to do any dental treatment on the first visit unless the patient specifically requests this, or has an emergency.

Special Requests or Needs

If you are a patient with special needs, or have a special request for any appointment (for example you may need a member of staff to help with young children, or may need appointments at certain times for personal reasons), please let the practice know in advance and we will do our upmost to accommodate your request.

Patients' comments

We welcome comments left by our patients on the NHS Choices web site. If you would like to comment on your experiences as our patient, please do so via the NHS Choices site.
